3D Printing Overview
3D printing has been able to meet the needs of most industrial application scenarios; it can achieve the manufacture of metal and plastic parts and finished products, the performance is comparable to traditional manufacturing processes. However the strength of metal parts is better than castings but slightly lower than forgings. All wieldable metals can use 3D printing technology now.
The key problems of 3D printing technology are mainly high equipment cost, high raw material cost and low processing efficiency.
Based on different purpose of 3D printing, such as appearance design verification, prototype testing, molding, spare parts production etc., the motion control requirements are also different, for example efficiency, precision, surface smoothness etc.
Typical Applications
FDM: Melted deposition molding, the main material ABS
SLA: Light curing molding, the main material photosensitive resin
DLP: Digital light processing molding, the main material photosensitive resin
Metal 3D printing by laser for melting.
